Novant Health reorganizes Charlotte, Winston-Salem executives

Winston-Salem-based Novant Health announced an executive reorganization Monday in response to the changing health-care landscape.

Dr. Andy Mueller will become senior vice president of Novant’s Greater Charlotte market, which includes three hospitals, 914 beds and more than 600 physician clinics and outpatient facilities. He is currently the senior vice president of physician services and will retain that responsibility for the Charlotte region.

Paula Vincent, who has been Novant Health Foundation president, becomes senior vice president and chief operating officer of Presbyterian Medical Center. And Dr. Hank Capps Jr., becomes senior vice president and chief operations officer of Novant Health Medical Group. He had been the group’s senior vice president of physician services and chief medical officer.

Harry Smith, previously president of Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and the Charlotte market, moves to senior vice president responsible for professional and support services for the Novant Health system.

Dr. Stephen J. Motew becomes senior vice president for the Winston-Salem market, which includes six hospitals, 1,407 beds and more than 500 physician clinics. Motew has been senior vice president of physician services for physician clinics and will retain that responsibility for the Winston-Salem area.

Sean Sanz, who has been senior vice president and chief operating officer for Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, becomes the Winston Salem market’s chief operating officer. Michele Langford becomes senior vice president of Novant Health Acute Services, and Denise Mihal becomes senior vice president of clinical operations, working directly with nursing officers and surgical services leaders across the system.
