AIDSVu – an interactive mapping tool that illustrates the HIV epidemic across the United States – has released updated data for 34 of the most affected U.S. cities, including Charlotte. The latest map shows 4,354 people were living with an HIV or AIDS diagnosis in Charlotte in 2012. Seventy-two percent of those living with HIV were men. Also, 70 percent living with HIV were black, 6 percent Hispanic/Latino, and 21 percent white. The source of the data is the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
