“Orchid Care” Aug. 15 at 9 a.m. at all Pike Nursery locations. Learn how easy and maintenance free these beautiful and exotic houseplant really are. Garden experts will teach proper watering, feeding and repotting techniques for all things orchid. Free.

Cooking and paint class

Join Chef Alyssa in her South End kitchen for a night of food and painting 6-9 p.m. Aug. 18. The night begins with a cooking demo featuring local ingredients and seasonal vegetables. Following the demo, Wine and Design will lead a painting session with a produce theme.

Pickle ball

Join the latest sports craze played indoors with a paddle, tennis net and wiffle ball. Games offered Monday through Friday, 9-11:30 a.m. at the Howard R. Levine Gymnasium at the Jewish Community Center, 5007 Providence Road.
