Be part of the McDowell Nature Center’s Adult Sustainability Series Farm Tour, 9:30-11 a.m. Oct. 1. The tour will take place at Hunter Farm, 13624 Providence Road in Weddington. Learn about near-death experiences, 6:30-7:45 p.m. Oct. 5 at Davidson Library’s Meeting Room. Madelaine Lawrence will discuss her research into near-death experiences, deathbed communications, angels, after-death communications and attempts to prove an afterlife. “Adventures in Learning” classes, offered by the Shepherd Center, begin Oct. 5 at Sharon Presbyterian Church, 5201 Sharon Road. Classes are Mondays through Nov. 9 and include a general session followed by smaller morning and afternoon classes on various topics. Lunch is available for a fee. “A Call to Action” program will be 9:30 a.m.-noon Oct. 6 at UNC Charlotte Center City, 320 E. Ninth St. The program champions the idea of Charlotte being designated an age-friendly community by the World Health Organization and AARP. Free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
