Nature crafting

“Nature Crafting With the Kids,” 11-11:50 a.m. Oct. 27 at the Tyvola Senior Center, 2225 Tyvola Road. Seniors and their grandkids can join in the fun with a naturalist from the McDowell Nature Center in this multigenerational craft program. All supplies and instruction provided. Cost: $3. Backyard gardening

“Backyard Ecology – Garden Like a Master,” noon-1:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Mecklenburg County Extension Service, 1418 Armory Drive. Learn how to plan an ecologically friendly, beautiful landscape and attract pollinators and birds using native plants and avoiding invasive species. Cost: $5. Registration required: 704-336-2082.

Alzheimer’s talk

Could Alzheimer’s disease be diagnosed with eye imaging, years before other symptoms appear? New research suggests it may be a possibility. Learn more 6-8 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Ivey Memory Wellness Day Center, 6030 Park South Drive.

Museum tour

Enjoy a tour of the Mint Museum’s Pre-Columbian galleries 1 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Mint Museum Randolph, 2730 Randolph Road. Frances Furr, a member of the family responsible for the collection, will be the tour guide and speaker. Free.

Nature hike

“Hike for Your Health,” 5-6 p.m. Nov. 3 at Reedy Creek Nature Preserve, 2900 Rocky River Road. Participants must be able to walk 2 to 3 miles. Free.
