Greater Charlotte Oral & Facial Surgery is accepting applications for its Second Chance program, offering a free “smile makeover” for one deserving local resident annually. Oral surgeons Dr. Amir Marashi and Dr. Hani Mahgoub will donate their time and expertise for the project, aimed at patients who cannot afford dental work that is medically necessary. Applicants should be 18 or older and suffer from extensive tooth loss, infection or decay that makes it difficult to eat, speak or smile. The doctors will give the chosen recipient a new set of teeth that may be anchored with dental implants. The application deadline is Feb. 15.
