Fetal alcohol syndrome

Dr. Yasmin Senturias, a Charlotte-based expert on fetal alcohol syndrome disorder, will lead a one-hour webinar on Feb. 22 for health care providers in the fields of mental health, substance abuse and developmental disabilities. Senturias is medical director for developmental and behavioral pediatrics at Carolinas Healthcare System and an adjunct associate professor at UNC Charlotte.

The webinar, 1-2 p.m., is sponsored by the North Carolina Council of Community Programs and is open to the public. The cost is $15, with discounts available. Register at www.nc-council.org/training. For information, call Joanna Linn at 919-757-5608.

Health disparities

N.C. Rep. Beverly Earle, D-Mecklenburg, is sponsoring a second annual Minority Health Conference, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at UNC Charlotte’s McKnight Hall. It is co-sponsored by UNCC’s Department of Public Health Sciences, the Gerontology Club and Advocates for Change.

Workshop speakers will share research findings and information about health disparities, social justice and oral health. The program is free and open to the public.
