Mental health awareness
LifeSkills Counseling & Consulting Group is offering a free public screening on May 12 of “Call Me Crazy,” a 2013 film that includes five short dramas about mental illness, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
The 88-minute film will begin at 4:30 p.m. at University City Library, 301 East W.T. Harris Blvd. A question-and-answer session with mental health professionals will follow.

Asthma walk
The Mecklenburg County Asthma Coalition sponsors the 2016 Community Asthma Walk May 21 at UNC Charlotte, beginning and ending at Hauser Alumni Pavilion, across the street from the Student Union parking deck.
