To know: University City is about 20 minutes from Uptown and has upwards of 160,000 residents, with UNC Charlotte at its center. This neighborhood is now the end point of the city’s light rail, thanks to the 2018 completion of the LYNX Blue Line extension.

To eat: Eat your way around the world without leaving the area with the abundance of international food options in UCity, including Thai House, Godavari Charlotte for Indian food, Lajeez Mediterranean Grill plus the newly opened Cava for more Mediterranean, Pho Real for Vietnamese and TinTin Café for Japanese.

To drink: Grab a cold beer and some crab legs and enjoy the deck overlooking the lake at Boardwalk Billy’s, or pop open a bottle of wine at The Wine Vault and enjoy the live music every Friday and Saturday.

To do: On a nice day you can’t beat renting a paddle boat and cruising around the lake at the Shoppes at University Place. Take a lesson at The Dance District, Charlotte’s first hip-hop dance studio and performance company for adults. While near the university, take advantage of the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens or catch a 49ers football game at Jerry Richardson Stadium. Looking for a concert night? Nearby PNC Music Pavilion is your outdoor music entertainment zone.
