Leaders of Elevation Church's contemporary worship music band – including Pastor Steven Furtick – have been nominated for three top Dove Awards by the Gospel Music Association.

Elevation Worship’s “There is a Cloud,” was among five nominees for Worship Album of the Year.

And one of the group’s songs, “O Come to the Altar,” was nominated for Song of the Year and Worship Song of the Year, the Nashville-based association announced Wednesday.

Besides Furtick, the song’s other nominated writers are Chris Brown, one of the main vocalists for Elevation Worship, as well as Mack Brock and Wade Joye. Brock recently left the church’s ministry team after 10 years, according to a report on the web site The Christian Beat.

Brock and Aaron Robertson were named as producers for Elevation Worship’s nominated album.

Before starting Charlotte’s Elevation Church in 2006, Furtick led a musical worship team at Christ Covenant, a Baptist church in Shelby. He and others started Elevation Worship, the Charlotte church’s worship band, in 2007. Since then, some of their albums and songs have climbed to high spots on Billboard’s Christian music charts.

Their song, “O Come to the Altar,” is one of 11 Dove Award nominees for Song of the Year and one of five for Worship Song of the Year.

The Gospel Music Association is a national group that celebrates and promotes the Gospel by honoring all styles of Christian music, including praise & worship, hip hop, and bluegrass. This is the 48th year for the Dove Awards. Others nominated in various categories this year include artists CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin, Reba McEntire, TobyMac, Hillsong United, Lauren Daigle and Zach Williams.

The winners will pick up their awards Oct. 17 at Allen Arena in Nashville. Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will air the awards show a few days later, on Oct. 22.

Elevation Worship’s song, “O Come to the Altar,” begins this way:

“Are you hurting and broken within?

Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin?

Jesus is calling

Have you come to the end of yourself

Do you thirst for a drink from the well?

Jesus is calling

O come to the altar

The Father's arms are open wide

Forgiveness was bought with

The precious blood of Jesus Christ”

Elevation Worship was nominated in 2015 for a Dove Award in the category of long form video.
