Cantor will sing songs from three faiths Sunday
“Great Songs of 3 Great Faiths” will be the free musical program at 4 p.m. Sunday when Cantor Elias Roochvarg of Temple Israel sings, along with friends, in the temple’s chapel, 4901 Providence Road.
It’s the latest in a series of concerts called “The Cantor & Friends.” The music will be from Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Among the songs: “Amazing Grace,” Schubert’s “Ave Maria,” Judy Collins’ “Trust Your Heart,” “Shma Koleinu,” Ravel’s “Kaddish,” “Eili Eili” (in Yiddish), “Day by Day” from “Godspell,” and a few Islamic songs that were still being determined.
Roochvarg is the author of “Well-Versed in Scripture: The First Five Books of the Bible in Contemporary Rhyme.” Tim Funk
