Uptown Garden of Eaten will be open Sunday for Panthers game

At the Garden of Eaten, members of St. Peter Catholic Church in uptown Charlotte serve up hot dogs prior to a Panthers game in 1998, two years after its launch. All donations from football fans on their way to Bank of America Stadium still go to charities that help the homeless and others.

On Sunday, St. Peter Catholic Church in uptown Charlotte will again host Garden of Eaten, which offers grilled hot dogs, soft drinks, chips and cookies to fans walking by on their way to Panthers games at Bank of America Stadium.

All donations go to charity. For the Panthers-Seahawks playoff game, Garden of Eaten will be open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in front of the church at 507 S. Tryon St.

Garden of Eaten, a football Sunday institution for 19 years, has contributed about $150,000 to charities such as Urban Ministry. It also buys books for a special reading program at Druid Hills Academy.
