An event next weekend in Asheville’s trendy River Arts District brings together 50 potters to raise money for Odyssey ClayWorks, a pottery school, studio and gallery.
The potters will provide 100 cups that will be fired June 20 at Wedge Brewing Co. in a free public demonstration of a portable wood-fired kiln called the Mobile Anagama. The cups will be sold for $40 each during a June 21 fundraiser, giving patrons access to beer kegs donated by Wedge Brewing.
All proceeds from the pottery sale will benefit the Odyssey ClayWorks Scholarship Fund. The Asheville ceramics center offers classes for adults and kids, workshops, lectures and other events.
Mobile Anagama creator and potter Henry James Haver Crissman will give an artist talk at 7 p.m. June 19 at Odyssey, 236 Clingman Ave., Asheville.
