Holland America reveals Zuiderdam as next Evolution ship
Holland America Line just unveiled some of the upgrades coming to Zuiderdam, the second of six ships that will be transformed as part of its $500 million Holland America Evolution fleet revitalization program.
If you've sailed on Zuiderdam and loved its classic feel, you'll be glad to know that the ship will be elevated with new venues from the line's newer Pinnacle Class ships, refurbished staterooms, and refreshed interiors without compromising what guests already love about the Vista Class vessel.

Holland America Evolution will bring new staterooms to Zuiderdam
Building on the momentum of Oosterdam's Evolution debut slated for fall 2027, Zuiderdam's revitalization will expand the ship's accommodations with several new stateroom categories alongside refreshed spaces throughout. Like Oosterdam, Zuiderdam will get new and redesigned suites as well as solo cabins:
- Bridgeview Suites - two suites perched above the navigational bridge with sweeping, forward-facing views, wraparound windows, a private balcony, and separate living and sleeping areas.
- Solo Verandah Cabins - 32 staterooms purpose-built for solo travelers, each with its own private balcony and thoughtfully designed layout.
- Vista Suites - 14 of these guest-favorite suites from Pinnacle Class ships are coming to Zuiderdam, bringing spacious accommodations with a sitting area, oversized windows, and a private verandah.
- Reimagined Pinnacle Suite - the most expansive accommodation on the ship, redesigned with a residential-style layout, refined finishes, and panoramic ocean views.
"We've seen strong interest in our Bridgeview Suites and Solo Verandahs on Oosterdam, and we're excited to make these new accommodations available on Zuiderdam," Holland America Line President Beth Bodensteiner said in a press release. "We're building on that momentum and look forward to sharing more details, including itineraries, very soon."
Large Grand Dutch Café coming to Zuiderdam
Holland America Line is also bringing its Grand Dutch Café from its Pinnacle Class ships to Oosterdam and Zuiderdam, and Zuiderdam's version will be the largest Grande Dutch Café added as part of the Evolution program.

The cozy, all-day gathering spot brings European café culture to sea - perfect for a relaxed morning espresso, an afternoon beer or aperitif, or sharing a light bite in the evening. Grand Dutch Café is one of several distinctive dining experiences that draw inspiration from the company's Dutch heritage and unhurried European culture.
When will Zuiderdam get its Evolution refresh?
Voyages aboard the newly transformed Zuiderdam will open for booking on July 30. Those voyages will sail in spring 2028, according to an email the cruise line sent to guests.
Should you wait to sail on Zuiderdam until after the renovation? That depends on what you're after. If a solo cabin or new suite is what you want, it's worth waiting to book a post-Evolution sailing. If you want a deal, book a voyage sailing before the revitalization since those will likely be less expensive.
