Train excursions scheduled for spring
The N.C. Transportation Museum, in Spencer, and the Virginia Museum of Transportation, in Roanoke, Va., have announced train excursions for the latter’s Norfolk & Western Class J 611 steam locomotive.
The first two trips will be hosted by the N.C. museum. Saturday, April 9, the 611 will run from Spencer to Lynchburg, Va., and return. Sunday, April 10, it will travel from Spencer to Asheville, N.C., and back.
April 23 and 24, full-day trips will depart Greensboro to Roanoke, Va., and return to Greensboro. The 611 will return to Roanoke to lead half-day excursions May 7 and 8. Morning excursions will run from Roanoke to Lynchburg, Va., and back; afternoon trips will run from Roanoke to Walton, Va., and back.
