Cabela’s, the sporting goods retailer, will open its newest store in Fort Mill, S.C., on Thursday.

The 104,000-square-foot store will host a grand opening from 8 to 10 a.m., featuring appearances from country music singer Lucas Hoge, TV and radio host Laura Lynn and motivational speaker and hunter Joshua “Son of the South” Carney.

Members of Cabela’s Club, the chain’s loyalty program, were able to visit and shop at the store Wednesday, a day ahead of the grand opening.

Instead of a traditional ribbon cutting to open its doors, a Cabela’s staff member, called an outfitter, will shoot an arrow to break the ribbon. Five outfitters competed for the honor at the store’s indoor archery range.

Cabela’s is also giving away gift cards to the first 500 customers in line on opening day, and according to its website, some could be worth up to $500. The store is offering giveaways to the first 50 customers during the weekend: on Friday, a Cabela’s utility bag; on Saturday, a Cabela’s cap; and Sunday, a Cabela’s tripod stool.

The store is also offering the chance to win a $1,000 Cabela’s shopping spree or a GoPro camera.

Once open, the outdoor goods store will start offering classes in gun safety, backpacking, camping, fly fishing and how to shoot a BB gun.

In addition to its hunting, camping and fishing gear, the store will include a deli, a full-service boat shop, an indoor archery range and other features.

The new store is at 1000 Cabela Drive, near Carowinds. The next closest Cabela’s stores are in Greenville, S.C., and Garner, N.C.
