Novant, UVA announce plan for northern Virginia partnership
Novant Health announced Wednesday that it plans to partner with the University of Virginia Health System to create a regional hospital system in northern Virginia.
The university and the health care system have signed a letter of intent to unite the UVA Culpeper Hospital and Novant’s Virginia facilities. The UVA hospital brings access to advanced cancer care, while the Novant hospitals have a community presence in that region.
Novant, based in Winston-Salem, has hospitals, clinics and outpatient centers in four states, including Presbyterian Medical Center and other locations in Charlotte.
Officials say a joint operating company should be in place by the end of June, with final details announced in July. Ann Doss Helms
