This technology firm plans to double staff in its new Charlotte office
Personal finance company Credit Karma plans to double its staff by the end of the year in its new Charlotte office, which opened Tuesday in Ballantyne, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.
The San Francisco-based company currently employs 25 people in Charlotte who focus on Credit Karma Tax, the company’s free online tax preparation service. More than half of its current Charlotte employees are software engineers, a spokeswoman said.
The company has been in Charlotte since December, when it opened a temporary office in Ballantyne.
The company has previously said it planned to hire “as many as” 100 employees in Charlotte. Its website currently lists nine open positions, all in the engineering department.
“We were drawn to Charlotte as its vibrant atmosphere and economic growth attracts talented people from all over the region,” Ryan Graciano, Credit Karma’s chief technology officer, said in a December statement. “Credit Karma also has a strong following in the Southeast, so it made a lot of sense for us to be here.”
Credit Karma is best known for providing free credit scores and credit reports to consumers. The company was founded in 2007 and employs over 500 across the country.
