Call center operator to lay off 114 employees in Charlotte, according to notice

A South Carolina-based call center operator said it plans to lay off 114 employees by closing an office in northeast Charlotte later this year.

In a notice filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce on Friday, Greer-based Level One said it plans to close the office at 10101 Claude Freeman Drive, Suite 300W, by Aug. 31. The layoffs, which will be permanent, are expected to begin around May 19, according to the notice.

The company could not be immediately reached for comment.

Under federal law, companies must file Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications, also known as WARN notices, when they make mass layoffs and close plants.

According to the notice, the layoffs are in connection with a consolidation effort by Level One and parent company RealPage to increase collaboration and productivity.

Level One’s clients include companies that own apartment units, according to its website. Level One answers in-bound phone calls from potential renters on behalf of those companies.
