Charlotte Douglas International Airport tied for sixth place in customer satisfaction among 18 mega airports, according to a survey by J.D. Power released Thursday.
The survey considers terminal facilities, airport accessibility, security check, baggage claim, check-in, food beverage and retail. The airports are ranked in three categories based on their size: mega, large and medium.
Last year, the survey only had two categories, large and medium, and Charlotte ranked 11th among 31 large airports.
The survey noted that airports are dealing with higher capacity and ongoing construction. But many airports improve customer satisfaction through technology and creative use of “high-touch traveler outreach initiatives,” that include therapy animals available to interact with travelers, like the CLT Canine Crew, according to J.D. Power.
