A Mississippi-based developer said Tuesday that it’s planning to build a new assisted living development for senior citizens in Fort Mill.

The Blake at Baxter Village will be located off Interstate 77 in the Baxter development, Cardinal Ventures executives said. The company is developing a string of Blake-branded senior living centers across the Southeast, including another in Indian Land that’s opening in 2018.

Construction on the Blake at Baxter Village is planned to start in early 2018, with the facility opening in 2019. Pricing for the assisted living and “memory care” units (designed for people with dementia and other degenerative conditions) hasn’t been disclosed, but such facilities often cost several thousand dollars a month.

The development will total 68 assisted living apartments, 33 memory care units and four to eight independent living townhouses.

Harrison Young of Cardinal Ventures said in a statement that the area’s rapid growth made it attractive for development.

“The rapid population growth in Fort Mill and York County has spurred significant residential and commercial development,” he said. “This significant growth, combined with excellent education systems and high quality of living factors, makes it an attractive location for senior living.”

The assisted living facility will include one- and two-bedroom apartments, and the memory care units will include studio and one-bedroom apartments. Services on site include a registered nurse 24 hours a day and dining “prepared purposefully for seniors.”
