The Wells Fargo Championship is back in Charlotte, but you need to pay more to see it
Tickets go on sale Wednesday for next spring’s Wells Fargo Championship, but they’ll cost a little more than the last time the golf tournament was in Charlotte.
A weekly ticket booklet, for example, goes for $175, up $10 from 2016. Tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday rounds cost $65 each, up $5.
The Wells Fargo Championship has been held in Charlotte since 2003 but moved to Wilmington this past spring to make way for the PGA Championship held in August. The 2018 Wells Fargo will run from April 30 to May 6 at Quail Hollow Club.
While prices are going up, Wells Fargo Championship tickets will still cost less than passes to the PGA Championship, one of golf’s four majors. For example, PGA tickets for Thursday through Sunday went for $95 each. Parking and shuttle services also cost extra for that event but are included with Wells Fargo tickets.
For this year’s Wells Fargo, the nonprofit behind the tournament has hired a Florida sports marketing group to run the event, and officials have said they want to make a bigger splash in the community and in charitable giving. The nonprofit Champions for Education has given away more than $20 million since 2003.
