Charlotte-based developer Drakeford Company is building a new townhouse and condominium project called McClintock Corners, with sales underway and construction starting next year.

The development will total 12 condos in four buildings and 21 townhouses in seven buildings. Groundbreaking is scheduled for the second quarter of 2018, at the corner of McClintock Road and St. Julien Street, off Central Avenue. That’s in the Commonwealth Morningside neighborhood.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom condos will start in the low $360,000-range, developer Bobby Drakeford said, while three-bedroom units will start at $460,000. The townhouses will start in the $500,000s, for both two- and three-bedroom units.

Drakeford said that concern from neighbors about the number of new apartments in the area helped persuade him to pursue a for-sale rather than rental development.

The Mecklenburg Investment Company and Forum Capital are financing the project. Pfahl Architects is the architect and Pfahl Builders is the general contractor, and the Drakeford Company will handle sales.
