Brian Leary, president of Crescent Communities’ commercial and mixed-use development unit, has been elected to the Charlotte Chamber’s 128-member Board of Directors. His terms begins immediately and will expire in 2016.

Leary, a past member with the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce who Crescent hired last September, was voted onto the board because of the “positive impact that Crescent Communities is making on the city” through several development projects the company’s involved with, Chamber CEO Bob Morgan said in a statement.

Crescent Communities is planning to build a 27-story office tower called Tryon Place on the site that houses the now-vacant Goodyear auto shop at Stonewall and South Tryon streets uptown. The firm also plans to construct a mixed-use development in the NoDa neighborhood, and finish apartment complexes in Dilworth and SouthPark.

In a statement expressing his gratitude, Leary calls Charlotte “an innovative and forward-thinking city” that he wants to help “continue to grow and thrive.”
