The businessman behind the spa at Charlotte Douglas International Airport has been awarded the Best New Consumer Service Concept Award, a distinction selected from more than 300 nominations across the U.S. and Canada.

Marko Iglendza, a Chicago entrepreneur, operates five Terminal Getaway Spas in three airports – Charlotte, O’Hare and Orlando. Iglendza created the spa concept with travel delays and early check-ins in mind.

The spas have private treatment rooms, services such as manicures and massages, and trained, licensed technicians.

The award was presented in April during the Business of Airports Conference hosted by the Airport Council International.
