Amid light rail construction, this business works hard to get noticed

Drivers passing the Fashion Warehouse clothing store on North Tryon Street might do a double take when they see bright clothing and a line of mannequins outside the store building. Store owner George Saini said he displays the clothes and mannequins outside to entice people to stop in. Attracting customers can be a challenge, he said, because of the store’s lack of parking -- a result of the construction process for the 9.3-mile Blue Line Extension. The $1.1-billion project will bring light-rail service from Ninth Street uptown to the UNC Charlotte main campus. Sarah Chaney
