Piedmont Natural Gas elected the CEO of a Nashville-based tire manufacturer to its board of directors on Friday.
Gary Garfield, who leads the Nashville-based Bridgestone Americas, Inc., immediately takes his seat on the board of the Charlotte-based natural gas distributor.
Board members typically serve three-year terms upon election and are eligible for reelection until they reach age 72. Because Garfield’s election came after the company’s annual shareholders meeting in March, he will stand for reelection at the next meeting next March, said Piedmont Natural Gas spokesman David Trusty.
Bridgestone Americas, Inc. is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, a global large tire and rubber company headquartered in Tokyo. Garfield started there in 1991, having served as the company’s senior counsel, vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and secretary.
