Atrium Health sets opening date for emergency healthcare facility in south Charlotte
A new Atrium Health emergency care facility will be opening in south Charlotte next Tuesday.
The opening day for the new facility, Atrium Health Providence, was announced Thursday.
The center will be at the intersection of Providence Road and Ardrey Kell Road, across from the Waverly Shopping Center. It will provide 24-hour emergency care to the area, including x-rays, ultrasounds and access to on-call medical specialists.
Atrium Health is eager to bring emergency care to residents of South Mecklenburg and Union County, said Alicia Campbell, facility executive of Atrium Health Pineville, in a statement.
Campbell said the facility will be using standards updated for COVID-19 to ensure patient safety, including regular cleaning, social distancing requirements in waiting rooms and separate waiting areas for those who might have COVID-19.
Atrium Health has listed the expected capital expenditure for the facility as $751,344, according to data from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.
Atrium bought the lot for the site last year for $20.8 million, according to Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds documents.
The facility is next to the Charlotte development Rea Farms, which is home to restaurants, retail, housing and a 78,000-square-foot Harris Teeter.
Charlotte-based Atrium Health has another emergency facility in Pineville.
