Popular south Charlotte shopping center has a new owner after $181 million sale
The major south Charlotte shopping center Blakeney has a new owner following a $181 million sale.
The new owner is Jacksonville, Florida-based Regency Centers Corp, a real estate company that owns 402 shopping centers with more than 54 million square feet of retail space across the country.
The sale closed on Nov. 18, Regency spokesman Eric Davidson told the Observer Monday.
The sale was first reported in the Charlotte Ledger. Earlier this month, Regency reported the impending sale in its third quarter financial report, stating that the sale for $181 million was expected to close in the company’s fourth quarter.
The Blakeney shopping center at Ardrey Kell and Rea roads in south Charlotte includes Harris Teeter, Old Navy, Bath & Body Works, 131 Main and Burtons Grill & Bar.
Marketing materials for the Blakeney shopping center, which includes Blakeney Crossing, details 544,107 square-feet of gross leasable area, including 16 restaurants.
The Blakeney and Blakeney Crossing shopping centers also host summer concert series at common areas from April through August, and Halloween and Christmas events, according to the marketing material published by Providence Group and former owners Northwood Investors.
The shopping center has roughly 62,152 residents with an average household income of $133,649 in a 3-mile radius, according to the marketing materials.
Regency also owns Cochran Commons, Carmel Commons and Providence Commons in Charlotte and Willow Oaks Crossing in Concord, according to the company’s website.
