SouthPark’s BSN medical acquires Texas-based FarrowMed

BSN medical, a medical device company with U.S. headquarters in SouthPark, said this week it is acquiring Texas-based FarrowMed, a privately held company that makes compression garments to manage arm and leg swelling.

Based in Germany, BSN medical specializes in wound care and orthopedic products and has been expanding its pipeline of compression products.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. In a statement, BSN medical said the deal will allow it to offer a patented Elastic Short Stretch compression wrap for the management of lymphatic and venous disorders.

The deal will also increase BSN medical’s market presence in the U.S., the company said.

“The combined product offering from BSN and FarrowMed fuels growth and is an important step towards becoming a one-stop provider of therapy solutions to the benefit of patients,” Guido Oelkers, CEO of BSN medical GmbH, said in a statement.

Last fall, BSN medical moved the production of its compression stockings to Mexico from Rutherford College, which about 70 miles west of Charlotte, though research and development remains in North Carolina.
