Packaging company investing $27 million in facility, bringing 150 jobs near Charlotte
A packaging manufacturer is spending $27 million on a facility in Concord and creating 150 jobs, state and local officials announced Tuesday.
Max Solutions, Inc., a specialty packaging company founded in 2021, is investing in the site, a news release from Gov. Roy Cooper’s office said.
The company will take over an existing building at 700 Derita Road. It’s Max Solutions’ second facility, the first of which is located in Pennsylvania.
Company officials are hoping to open the facility by the third quarter of this year, a spokeswoman for the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation confirmed.
The average annual salary for the new jobs will be $67,253, compared to the average salary of $43,687 in Cabarrus County.
“Max Solutions selected Cabarrus County for its connectivity to the Southeast,” Cabarrus Board of Commissioners Chair Steve Morris said in a statement. “Packaging is in demand because it’s essential to commerce.”
The company will receive up to $1.25 million in state incentives in the form of a 12-year, performance-based Job Development Investment Grant.
Concord City Council and Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners will meet in the coming weeks to consider a property tax grant for the project, the spokeswoman confirmed.
Other expansions around Charlotte
It’s not the only such expansion the Charlotte region has attracted in recent months.
In January, pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly announced that it would build a major manufacturing facility in Concord, creating about 600 jobs and investing nearly $1 billion. The facility will be at the old Phillip Morris cigarette manufacturing site off U.S. 29 just down the road from Charlotte Motor Speedway.
That same site attracted a $740 million expansion from beverage companies Red Bull and Rauch, announced last July. The companies plan to build a 2-million-square-foot facility there.
And in Iredell County, over-the-counter pharmaceutical company BestCo LLC invested $177 million in expanding its Mooresville facilities. The firm also said it would add 400 jobs in the area.
