Bed Bath & Beyond is closing 150 locations. Are stores in Charlotte next to shut down?

Bed Bath & Beyond plans to close around 150 stores in the U.S. and slash its workforce by 20% over the next several months.

The move is expected to reduce the company’s expenses by approximately $250 million, the company announced in a news release.

Bed Bath & Beyond previously announced in February that it was closing 37 stores across the country, including five in California and seven in New York, Business Insider reported. Stores in North Carolina have not yet been included in closure plans.

Status of Bed Bath & Beyond stores in the Charlotte area

Bed Bath & Beyond has not said which stores will close in the coming months, but it plans to share more information when it is available, a spokesperson for the company told The Charlotte Observer in an email.

There are five Bed Bath & Beyond locations in the Charlotte area, including two within the city limits:

The Bed Bath & Beyond location at Concord Mills Mall in Concord closed in 2020, The News & Observer reported.

There are 22 Bed Bath & Beyond stores in North Carolina, according to the company’s website.
