This engineering firm is investing nearly $60 million to expand its Charlotte operations

Engineering and manufacturing company Bosch Rexroth is investing $58 million to expand its operations in Charlotte, the city and Mecklenburg County said in news releases Wednesday.

The company will move to a 227,500-square-foot research and development facility at a vacant, build-to-suit property off Tyvola Road in southwest Charlotte. The site will primarily be used for manufacturing and logistics, although it will also include a customer showroom and training facilities.

According to the company’s website, Bosch Rexroth’s U.S. headquarters is currently located on South Lakes Drive, near the South Carolina border.

Bosch Rexroth manufacturers products that can be used in factory automation. The new Charlotte site will expand its operations for “linear motion and assembly technologies.”

Bosch Rexroth employs 326 people in Charlotte and will hire an additional 24 workers as a part of the expansion, the releases said, and is currently hiring. The new jobs will include engineering, administrative and production roles.

The company was offered up to about $2.66 million in city and county incentives for the expansion.

“We are excited to experience the growth that necessitates this move, and we are proud to remain within Charlotte,” company President and CEO Greg Gumbs said in a statement.
