In a milestone year, one of the region’s biggest summer employers is hiring.

Carowinds plans to hire more than 2,400 seasonal workers this season. The theme park in Fort Mill and Charlotte is open weekend dates now, but will open in full as the weather warms. This spring and summer Carowinds celebrates 50 years open.

A week-long hiring event starting Feb. 18 is part of the largest recruiting effort ever by parent company Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. Carowinds looks to fill more than 300 jobs. Available jobs include admissions, aquatics (including lifeguards), food and beverage, merchandise, games, ride operations and security.

More information is available online at carowinds.jobs.

The park will pay starting at $15 an hour for ages 16 and older. Candidates can apply, interview and get hired same day. In-person and virtual interviews are available. A separate 3-7 p.m. hiring event Feb. 20 at the park employment center will offer opportunities for 15-year-olds.

More workers are needed this year with new additions for the 50 year celebration. Expanded entertainment, food and other options are planned.

Carowinds is a 400-acre theme park on the South Carolina and North Carolina line. It includes a 26-acre water park and a range of roller coasters. Parent company Cedar Fair, based in Ohio, operates 11 amusement parks, four water parks and more across 10 states and Canada.
