Lake Norman Walmart reopening with home-delivery options after renovations
The Huntersville Walmart Supercenter held a grand reopening Friday after the retail giant began renovations in April, according to the store’s Facebook page.
The store at 11145 Bryton Town Center Drive now features more self-checkout options, more pickup and delivery services, updated restrooms, new lighting and a fresh coat of interior and exterior paint, a Walmart spokesperson told The Charlotte Observer.
These are the latest in a series of renovations at local Walmarts, including supercenters in Charlotte, Concord, Statesville, Lake Wylie and Monroe.
This is part of Walmart’s more than $9 billion investment in upgrades at more than 1,400 stores across the U.S. over the past two years. Walmart declined to share its investment totals for the Charlotte area.
The renovations come after the Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer laid off 155 employees in June at its southwest Charlotte regional corporate office at 2118 Water Ridge Parkway.
The layoffs were part of a changes to Walmart’s business strategy. The Huntersville Walmart will employ the same number of workers as it did before the renovations, Anger confirmed.
