Over 200 jobs coming to Charlotte with $14M expansion by transportation company

A Charlotte-based transportation company is expanding with a nearly $14 million investment that promises to create over 200 jobs.

RXO Corporate Solutions wants to grow its workforce in areas such as transportation brokers, operational and logistics specialists, technology and data analysts, sales and account managers and administrative staff, state officials said during Tuesday’s NC Economic Investment Committee meeting.

RXO is the third-largest firm in North America operating as a brokered transportation company, and arranges transportation with carriers on behalf of companies that are shipping goods. The Charlotte expansion would streamline the transportation process to reduce efficiencies, according to a news release from Gov. Roy Cooper’s office.

The project would create 216 jobs in Charlotte over three years starting in 2026. The jobs will pay a minimum of $89,769, slightly above Mecklenburg County’s average wage of $84,797.

”This is not just an expansion; it’s a significant milestone for our city’s growth and economic development,” Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles said in a statement.

For its investment, RXO will receive over $1.6 million in state tax incentives over 12 years, plus $400,000 from the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County combined.

The state incentive package includes around $390,000 from the community college system for training as well as $436,000 from the workforce solution division.

Charlotte’s location, international airport, a skilled workforce and business-friendly climate are ideal for RXO’s growth, company CEO Drew Wilkerson said in a statement.
