Charlotte gas prices down a nickel from last week
Prices at the pump declined across the U.S. over the last week. Charlotte area drivers are saving an average of 91 cents for a gallon of unleaded gas now compared with this time last year.
As of early Tuesday, gas prices nationwide have been falling for 20 days straight, according to auto group AAA, which surveys 120,000 gas stations across the U.S. to determine average prices. Prices keep declining thanks in part to the falling prices of oil globally, AAA says.
Here are AAA’s average local and national prices. Prices in Charlotte are for the entire metro area, which includes Gastonia and Rock Hill.
Charlotte | North Carolina | South Carolina | National | |
Current | $2.49 | $2.47 | $2.26 | $2.64 |
Week ago | $2.54 | $2.53 | $2.32 | $2.70 |
Year ago | $3.40 | $3.42 | $3.22 | $3.50 |
