Carowinds reveals 2025 season reopening date, plus new event celebrations
Carowinds has unveiled its season 2025 calendar with new festival celebrations and family rides.
The amusement park will open for its 52nd season on March 15, Carowinds said Wednesday. Carowinds is a 400-acre amusement park that straddles the North Carolina and South Carolina border in Charlotte and Fort Mill, S.C.
The event schedule includes two new celebrations, Summerbration and Viva La Festa, plus the returns of SCarowinds, Oktoberfest and WinterFest.
Two new rides will open later in the season at Camp Snoopy, as previously announced.
Carowinds water park, Carolina Harbor, will open May 24, company spokesperson Chris Foshee said.
This will be Carowinds first season under Six Flags Entertainment Corp. and headquartered in Charlotte following last year’s $8 billion merger of Ceder Fair and Six Flags.
Carowinds calendar
The events season calendar, according to Carowinds, includes:
▪ Spring Break Days from April 11-27 with live entertainment, daily festivities and Fury 325’s 10th anniversary celebration.
▪ Summerbration will celebrate summer with “exclusive experiences and limited-time entertainment” on select days in June and July.
▪ Viva La Fiesta from July 19 to Aug. 10 will celebrate cultural traditions, including foods.
▪ Oktoberfest will return for its second season at the park Sept. 13 to Nov. 2. The event celebrates Germany’s annual festival with cuisine, craft beers and entertainment.
▪ SCarowinds from Sept. 12 to Nov. 2 is Carowinds’ Halloween event with mazes and attractions, and daytime trick-or-treating for the children.
▪ WinterFest from Nov. 22 to Jan. 4 celebrates the holiday season with millions of lights, performances and seasonal treats.
Changes at Carowinds, new rides
Carowinds will see some new rides while others will be missing this year.
Camp Snoopy children’s area is getting a new roller coaster and a raft ride, plus splash zones.
Last month, Carowinds’ parent company Six Flags announced the teardown of legacy rides at its parks, including Nighthawk, Drop Tower and Scream Weaver at Carowinds. Six Flags said the “changes are an important part of our growth.”
In November, Six Flags said it would invest more than $1 billion over two years at its 42 theme parks on upgrades, including new restaurants and menus.
Tickets to Carowinds
Here’s what to expect for admission pricing:
▪ A daily ticket costs $40, or $59 with parking and all-day dining included.
▪ There are three levels of season passes starting at $95. Gold and Prestige Pass holders can add an All Park Passport to any Six Flags park for $80.
