Sammy Hagar’s new Charlotte airport restaurant serves riffs and beach bites
Rock and roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar announced his newest restaurant is coming this summer to Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill is opening in Concourse D following a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Hagar on June 24 at 2:00 p.m.
This will be the chains fifth location. The full-service restaurant will be open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, serving breakfast until 9:30 a.m.
“Bringing Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill to Charlotte is all about sharing good times, great food and a rockin’ playlist with travelers,” said Hagar in a news release. “I’m especially proud that through the Hagar Family Foundation, we will be giving back to the Charlotte community, like we do at all of our locations.”
The restaurant covers 2,300 square feet and seats 113 guests. Travelers can expect to see photos and mementos from Hagar’s music career.
Hagar, a well-known singer and songwriter, has been in bands such as Montrose, Van Halen, Chickenfoot and The Circle. He has also had a multi-platinum solo career.
Hagar has 25 platinum albums on sales surpassing 50 million worldwide. He has won a Grammy award and been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame add as a member of Van Halen.

Hagar’s restaurant menu offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including “Start Me Up’ appetizer” like baja quesadillas and beach nachos; “Sam Wiches” like tacos, burgers and barbecue brisket; and a variety of entrees.
It also features a full bar that serves beer, wine, cocktails and spirits, including Hagar’s own Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum and Santo Tequila, along with his new beer, Red Rocker Lager.
The restaurant joins other Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill locations, which include Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii, Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada and Kahului Airport in Kahului, Hawaii.
Through the Hagar Family Foundation, founded by Hagar and his wife, Kari Hagar, he is donating his personal net proceeds from the Charlotte location to benefit Levine Children’s Hospital and Hope Street Food Pantry.
Since its founding in 2008, the Hagar Family Foundation has contributed over $4 million to charitable causes, supporting communities nationwide.
Other restaurants in the Charlotte airport include Midwood Smokehouse in Concourse B, The Broken Spoke on Concourse A and Charlotte-based Sycamore Brewing in Concourse E. Beatrix Market, Wow Bao, Auntie Anne’s pretzels and The Waterman Fish Bar in Concourse C.
More dining and bars are part of the airport’s multi-year, $608 million terminal expansion and renovation projects that began in 2019.
