Some Spectrum customers will soon gain free access to the Hulu streaming platform.
The deal with Hulu means that qualifying Spectrum TV subscribers will have access to eight Disney-owned channels, along with Hulu’s library of original content, films and TV series.
Spectrum already has an existing deal with Disney that gives certain TV customers access to the Disney+ Basic streaming service.
“This extension is a true testament to our mutual confidence in this innovative model — which already is showing improvement in subscriber churn — and our commitment to work creatively together to achieve win-win outcomes for both of us and most importantly for our customers — all achieved mid-cycle and absent from any of the typical pressures from expiring agreements,” Tom Montemagno, executive vice president of programming acquisition for Spectrum parent company Charter Communications, said in a news release.
In addition to Hulu, Spectrum customers will also get complimentary access to ESPN’s yet-to-be-launched streaming platform.
Here’s what to know about the deal.

Spectrum customers get free access to ESPN streaming
ESPN, which is also owned by The Walt Disney Co., is expected to debut its direct-to-consumer streaming platform, also named ESPN, this fall.
With the streaming platform, watchers can get ESPN’s seven domestic linear networks and ESPN on ABC, ESPN announced in May. On-demand replays, studio shows, original programming and 47,000 live events per year will be offered when the streaming service launches.
The monthly fee for an ESPN streaming subscription will be $29.99. An annual subscription will cost $299.

Once access to Hulu is available later this summer, Spectrum TV Select customers can visit spectrum.com/streamapps to activate their free Hulu (With Ads) account.
