Michigan marketing company moves headquarters to South End office tower

A Michigan-based merchandising and marketing company announced it’s relocating its headquarters to South End.

SPAR Group, Inc partners with retailers such as Walmart, Home Depot, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Lowe’s and Kroger. The company signed a long-term lease for 16,000 square feet and the move will be effective this October.

Potential Add: The company is bringing 75 employees to the new office, the Charlotte Business Journal reported.

The company chose South End in Charlotte for its new office space because of its proximity to the airport, public transportation and other amenities, CEO Mike Matacunas said in an email statement.

The company’s new office will be at 110 East Blvd.

110 East office vacancies

110 East opened last March. It’s a 24-story tower that has 370,000 square feet of office, retail and restaurant space.

The $186-million project contributed to the rise of office vacancies in Charlotte. The building had no pre-signed leases, the Charlotte Business Journal reported.

110 East now sits at 37% occupancy after bringing companies such as Coinbase, Florida-based SouthState Bank and storage solutions firm Patterson Pope to the building.

The current office vacancy rate still sits higher than the national average at 22.2%, according to commercial real estate firm JLL’s July report.

The building also will have a restaurant opening next year. The Iberian Pig, an Atlanta-based Spanish tapas restaurant, will occupy the first floor of the building.
