Fintech giant just made a deal for Ballantyne office, with 225 jobs in Charlotte
SoFi Technologies expects to begin moving into its new Ballantyne hub by next summer.
The San Francisco-based fintech has signed a lease for 21,000-square-foot office space at the Everett Building at 11525 N. Community House Road, property owner and manager Northwood Office confirmed Tuesday. Last month, SoFi announced its plans to create 225 jobs in Ballantyne with an investment of $3 million, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.
“They should be in the space the first half of next year,” Northwood said.
The 154,141-square-foot, six-story office building was built in 2011, according to Northwood Office’s website.
SoFi offers digital financial services with a banking model primarily online and mobile-based. The Charlotte Business Journal first reported on the address.
About SoFi’s expansion
New positions at SoFi will include loan officers, loan processors, underwriters, chief experience analysts and sales and management teams. The jobs will pay a minimum average wage of $108,400, above Mecklenburg County’s average salary of $86,830.
SoFi will receive about $2.5 million in state and local incentives. The company picked Charlotte over Frisco, Texas, and Jacksonville, Florida.
SoFi was founded in 2011, and has been in Charlotte since 2023. SoFi has about 3,800 employees in 14 locations in the U.S., as well as in Hong Kong, Latin America and Switzerland. There are 130 employees in North Carolina.
