As the $700M tower rises in Charlotte, a new tenant brings some design changes
Another tenant has signed on to work at the second tower of the skyline-defining Queensbridge Collective project on the edges of uptown and South End.
Accounting giant EY, formerly Ernst & Young LLP, signed a long-term lease to take up over 45,000 square feet at the Queensbridge Collective development on South Tryon, according to a news release Monday. The global professional services firm will occupy two full floors of the 43-story tower.
With the lease, developer Riverside Investment & Development said it would be increasing the building’s office usage by two floors and reducing the residential portion of the tower. This gives the second tower of the mixed-used development over 400,000 square feet of office space and 304 apartments.
This would be the fourth lease for the office building, which broke ground in November.
Charlotte-based Moore and Van Allen PLLC will be anchoring the tower, using nine floors and 206,000 square feet at the top of the building.
In October, global insurance and financial services company Pacific Life said it would invest $12.3 million to open a Charlotte office. It chose Queensbridge as its Charlotte headquarters and will occupy three floors at 68,000 square feet.
And in November, Charlotte-based Pamlico Capital also announced it was leasing space at Queensbridge. The private equity firm will use almost 22,900 square feet.
With the four companies, Queensbridge is about 90% pre-leased, according to the release. Riverside is expected to complete the second tower by 2028, finishing the $700 million mixed-use project.
About Queensbridge Collective
The development at 1111 S. Tryon St. is at the former locations of Midnight Diner and Uptown Cabaret.
Sitting on about 2.75 acres, the Queensbridge project is part residential, part commercial. And the housing came first.
The first of the two towers will be 42 stories, and the second-tallest residential building in the city. The tallest is The VUE Charlotte in uptown’s Fourth Ward, standing at 51 stories.
Queensbridge’s tower will house about 409 market-rate units and include amenities such as a pickleball court, a fitness center and coworking spaces.
Charlotte-based Night Swim Coffee will open this year on the ground-floor and Denver-based steakhouse Guard and Grace will open on the 10th floor in mid-2026. There will be about three other retailers in the tower, including a rooftop restaurant space.
