Parkway Properties announced this week it will bring Google Fiber’s Small Business Gigabit Internet service to its Charlotte customers. The Orlando, Fla.-based real estate investment trust owns the Hearst Tower and NASCAR Plaza.

In a statement, Parkway Properties said it has the potential to bring the gigabit service to its entire portfolio if Google Fiber expands into its area. The real estate group also said it will provide Google Fiber service in its office buildings in Atlanta and Austin, Texas.

“Google Fiber should allow our customers to increase productivity and gain a distinct strategic advantage. We believe that a long-term partnership with Google Fiber will differentiate the Parkway portfolio and further our efforts to maximize value of our best-in-class assets,” said Joel Anderson, Parkway’s vice president and director of information technology.

Google said in January it’s bringing its superfast Internet service to Charlotte. The service boasts speeds of up to 100 times faster than normal broadband, and Google has said it’s about a year and a half away from serving its first Charlotte customers. Construction on the network is underway in the north Charlotte neighborhood Highland Creek.

Google Fiber is currently available in Kansas City, Kan.; Kansas City, Mo.; Provo, Utah; and Austin, Texas. It’s also scheduled to come to San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Raleigh-Durham, Atlanta and Nashville, Tenn.

Parkway Properties owns or has an interest in 44 office properties in seven states across the Sunbelt region.
