Charlotte area furniture manufacturer adding dozens of jobs in $9M expansion
Furniture manufacturer Coley Home is investing $9 million to expand production in Catawba County that will add 45 jobs, Gov. Josh Stein said Wednesday.
To meet growing market demands, Coley is adding a 75,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, plus a showroom and office to showcase products, according to the governor’s office. The facility in Claremont, about 43 miles northwest of Charlotte, is adjacent to the current site.
The annual average salary for new positions will be $61,911, above the county’s average wage of $54,280.
Stein touted the expansion as another example of North Carolina’s reputation as the furniture capital of the world. The state has the nation’s largest furniture workforce with more than 850 manufacturing companies, N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley said in the release.
For its investment, Coley received a state tax incentive of $100,000 from the One North Carolina Fund, which provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs. Companies must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment.
