Goodbye PNC Pavilion. Popular Charlotte concert venue gets another new name

The Charlotte venue that concertgoers have known as the PNC Music Pavilion for more than a decade is entering a new era with a name change: Truliant Amphitheater.

Truliant Federal Credit Union is now the naming rights partner for the facility, the Winston-Salem-based financial institution announced Thursday morning. This marks the first concert venue named after the company. Located on Pavilion Boulevard in the University City area, the site sits near the U.S. Route 29/Interstate 485 interchange.

Truliant Amphitheater is operated by Live Nation, the world’s largest live entertainment company, which manages naming rights partnerships and on-site sponsorships.

Some of the announced artists and shows for the 2026 season from the Live Nation website include:

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Pittsburgh-based PNC Bank, one of the largest financial institutions in the U.S., held the naming rights for 12 years before Truliant took over.

As for PNC, its venue partnership helped introduce and grow the brand while connecting the bank with customers and the community in meaningful ways, PNC regional president Weston Andress said in a statement to The Charlotte Observer.

“As the naming rights of this venue transition to a new partner, PNC remains committed to Charlotte and looks forward to reinvesting in initiatives that strengthen our brand and deepen our impact across the region,” Andress stated.

Perks for Truliant credit union members

With a capacity of 20,000 people, the amphitheater is one of Charlotte’s largest music venues and hosts more than 45 shows annually.

In a statement, Truliant CEO Todd Hall said the partnership between the venue and the company aims to connect with more fans and highlight the benefits of credit union membership. To that end, Truliant members will receive special perks, including “fast-lane” entry and discounts at concession stands.

Decades of musical history in Charlotte

This rebranding is the latest in a series of changes for the venue, which has seen several identities since the early 1990s.

Originally known as Blockbuster Pavilion, the site opened on July 4, 1991. Named after the then-dominant video store chain, the facility was inaugurated by music icon Ray Charles. Since then, global superstars such as Paul McCartney, Tina Turner and Aerosmith have all graced its stage.

The name was changed to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in 2001, before becoming the PNC Music Pavilion in November 2013.

Truliant will kick off its first concert season at the amphitheater this April. Updates and schedules are available at TruliantAmp.com and via social media platforms including Facebook, X and Instagram.
