OurHealth to open 5 clinics in Charlotte

Indianapolis-based OurHealth announced Wednesday it will open a network of low-cost health clinics across Charlotte.

The addition of five MyClinics in the area will create at least 60 jobs over the next 12 to 18 months, the company said. The investment in the project is an estimated $25 million, and the clinics are expected to open in January.

At the clinics, employees whose employers are part of the network can get low-cost services including annual exams, immunizations, blood tests, generic drug prescriptions, acute care and treatment procedures. The clinics also provide wellness services such as health coaches.

Ben Evans, chief executive officer of OurHealth, told the Observer that the clinic locations will be in uptown, near the airport and on the east, south and north sides of the city. The goal, he said, is to be within a 10-minute drive of all Charlotte employees.

The clinics serve all kinds of employers, Evans said, including municipalities, school corporations, large publicly traded companies, professional services organizations and tech companies. The clinics’ goal, he added is to improve access for employees, lowering costs for both them and their employers since they get access to care at an earlier stage.

“What we do fits really well into the employer market in Charlotte. It’s also easy to get to from Indianapolis, and there’s a great talent pool,” Evans said.

The five locations, Evans said, will be hiring for positions including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurse coaches, as well as positions in sales, training, recruiting and technology. Interested applicants can apply online at http://ourhealth.org.

OurHealth will also open a regional office – probably in uptown Charlotte, Evans said, though an exact location hasn’t been determined.

OurHealth currently operates clinics in Indianapolis, Chicago, Philadelphia and Nashville, Tenn.
