JPMorgan Chase unveils Charlotte growth plan with 400 more jobs and a new office
JPMorgan Chase is planning to consolidate workspace for existing Charlotte workers and account for more hiring by moving into a SouthPark office that has room for over 1,000 workers, further expanding its push into the hometown territory of rival banks.
The banking giant signed a lease for a new corporate office at One Piedmont Town Center, with employees expected to move in by early 2028, according to a Tuesday announcement from the company.
JPMorgan Chase is currently hiring in Charlotte across all lines of business. It anticipates adding 400 corporate office employees locally over the next several years.
The new office, at 4725 Piedmont Row Drive aims to bring local teams together. More than 600 workers currently occupy two buildings in the SouthPark area. They will not have to move far. The total space is designed to accommodate more than 1,000 employees.
The new roles created by this expansion will span the commercial, investment, private and consumer banking sectors, supporting clients both locally and globally, according to the bank.
The bank did not provide estimated salary ranges. Roles will vary significantly by function and level across our lines of business lines.
As of March 31, JPMorgan Chase reported $4.9 trillion in assets and $364 billion in stockholders’ equity. It’s the largest bank in the U.S. by assets, followed by Charlotte-based Bank of America, then Wells Fargo, which is headquartered in San Francisco but has its largest employment base in Charlotte. Truist bank also is headquartered in Charlotte.

The bank said the five-floor, 145,000-square-foot facility will feature contemporary workspaces and enhanced collaboration areas designed to support employee well-being and productivity. Some of the planned amenities include:
- Lactation and prayer rooms
- An on-site restaurant
- Training center for employee development, town halls and internal events

- Free parking for staff
To ensure a prominent presence in Charlotte, new signage will be installed at the top of the building and in other visible locations throughout the site. The project is one of the newest additions to Piedmont Town Center, a mixed-use development that integrates office towers, retail, restaurants and residential living.
