Yes, Even the BMW M2 Is Available for Leasing this May

The 2026 BMW M2 in a Nutshell

The M3 is great and all, but if you want something a little closer in spirit to the original E30, then the M2 is your ticket. We wouldn't have this subcompact coupe if it weren't for the success of the supposedly-limited-run 1 Series M Coupe from back in the day, and let's just say we're glad it was a hit.

Now in its second generation, the current M2 was introduced in 2022 for the 2023 model year. It sticks to the tried-and-true formula that has made it one of the most successful M cars. The pocket rocket received a facelift for 2025, so there's not much to report about changes for 2026.

2026 BMW M2 Lease Deals for May

For those who'd like to take their first steps into the M experience, the M2 has been available for lease for quite some time. Unsurprisingly, it's the least expensive pure M car to lease at just a hair under $1,000. In this case, it's $999 for 36 months with $7,049 due at signing.

Unlike standard BMW lease deals, there is no listed loyalty credit promo for the M2. That said, there are other programs available to lessen the monthly rate. Per the usual, the mileage limit is 32,500 miles over 36 months (10,000 per year), and there is an additional charge of $0.25 for every mile exceeding that. These offers are valid until June 1, 2026.

2026 BMW M2 Highlights

The BMW M2 lineup is as simple as it gets, with just one trim. The 2026 model carries a base price of $69,000, though several tempting option packages will easily push that price up. New for 2026 is the CS, a lightened, more focused, and more powerful model that sits above the standard model that goes for $99,775.

The highlight of the recent facelift is more power. From 453 hp and 406 lb-ft, it rises to 473 hp and 442 lb-ft, a healthy increase of 20 hp and 36 lb-ft. All M2s come with a carbon roof, deeper bucket seats, Adaptive M Suspension, Active M Differential, and M Drive Professional. It's worth noting that the limited-run CS doesn't include any lease offers.

Final Thoughts

If the E30 M3 were reimagined today, it would be as the M2. The modern M3 is practically an M5 in terms of size and performance. The M2, while still blisteringly fast next to the E30 M3, is closer in spirit to the homologation special. Sharp, agile, and dynamic, one can say that it's refreshingly old-school in a tech-heavy world.
