Charlotte lands big thrift store + 50 jobs as chain expands to NC. What to expect
A thrift retailer will debut its first North Carolina store this summer in Charlotte.
City Thrift, part of the Buy Thrift family of brands, will open a 25,000-square-foot store at 6029 South Blvd., the company said Wednesday. The store will create about 50 jobs. Hiring for some roles has begun.
Given all the turbulence in the economy, thrift stores are one popular option for people looking to save money where they can.
City Thrift operates 15 stores across the Southeast, and offers “high-quality” secondhand clothing, home goods, furniture, jewelry, toys and vintage items.
City Thrift pledges clean and organized stores with constantly changing inventory.
The South Boulevard store will feature departments for men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as kitchenware and tools. New items will be added daily.
“Each purchase helps reduce waste by keeping reusable clothing, textiles and household goods out of local landfills,” City Thrift said.
Based in Birmingham, Alabama, City Thrift operates in Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Indiana and Florida, according to the company’s LinkedIn page.
